It took the better part of a year, but I'm proud to say we've completed a major eLearning project with my colleagues at Interactive Advantage Corporation.
Developed for LazerSpot Yard Management, this multiple part project covers Spot Driver Introductory and Safety Training. Spot Drivers do the 'heavy lifting' at major warehouse sites to ensure truck trailers are moved around the site correctly and safely. Long haul drivers drop off the trailers at the entrance to the site and pick up already loaded trailers at the exit of the site. Spot drivers move the trailers to and from loading docks to the tune of over 100 trailers per day. That's over 100 opportunities a day to make a mistake, damage cargo or worse, hurt someone.
New drivers for LazerSpot would spend their first day getting orientation and safety training from the local managers, at over 300 locations across the US. LazerSpot management realized they needed to ensure that all new drivers were getting the exact same training and they could take some of the workload off the local managers at the same time.
Partnering with Interactive Advantage Corporation, we took their written materials and live instruction and turned that into a 3 hour, interactive training session. Using cameras mounted all over the truck and throughout the service yards, we presented much of the training with an 'in the seat view' putting the new drivers into the spot trucks in actual working conditions. The training was broken up into management sections allowing the drivers to move through the training pretty quickly. Many checkpoints were set up along the way forcing the drivers to answer questions correctly before moving on to the next segment of the training.
This was a great partnership with IAC and I'm sorry we can't share any of the finished materials here. If you're interested to get more information on interactive and eLearning solutions, reach out via the Contact Page.
