Never throw away ideas. Even if they're 'dumb' and especially if they're digital documents.
This very morning I dusted off an original concept developed back in 2015. It was one of those 'shower moments' when I suddenly realized the concept existed
Last week I was talking to an Executive Producer whom I've known for quite a few years. We were going over some television network mandates and what they're looking for these days.
And then it hit me this morning in the shower, a concept that ticks off a bunch of the boxes is already on my computer.
15 minutes and a few tweaks later, the concept was sent.
Keep all of your original ideas, even the dumb ones, because you just never know when they will come in handy. Instead of starting from scratch, you might have an awesome starting point already sitting in your 'archives.'
That photo is from 2013 discussing a scene setup with the amazing Marion Laney while Directing another concept pilot.
