"LinkedIn? Oh yeah, we tried that. It didn't work."
Did you really? Did you really try or give up because it's not easy?
As with many things in life and career, building a brand on a platform like LinkedIn or any social channel takes effort, commitment, and consistency. Significant gains for your brand, your bottom line, and your career can be had by putting in the time and effort to fully understand how to develop and deliver targeted content.
So if you 'tried that' for one project, one week, one month... No, you really didn't try. You simply gave up because it was too hard and required too much effort. Or you have the wrong strategy to build your B2B audience.

0:00 I can't tell you how many times I've talked to a client, or talked to a colleague, I'll suggest something and they'll say, "eh, we tried that. It didn't work."
0:07 Did you really? I mean, did you really try it? Or did you just do a couple of things? And we saw no return, so we're not gonna do it anymore. You know, LinkedIn is like that. I hear more complaints about "oh, I tried to network on LinkedIn, oh, we tried content on LinkedIn. We didn't get anything out of it."
0:24 You know, LinkedIn is not, "oh, I tried it for a month and doesn't work." LinkedIn is a long game. It takes weeks, it takes months, it can take years to build your audience. But if you do it, right, the payoff is tremendous. It's all about creating content that hits the mark, that engages, that shares knowledge, that is entertaining. You know, we all want to be entertained. It's about creating a body of work. That presents you as somebody I want to listen to, somebody I want to do business with, somebody I trust with information.
1:11 That doesn't happen in one post. It doesn't happen in one video. Your first post might get no views, your first video might get no views, your first 20 videos might get no views. But then 21, people start to watch it. And then by 50, maybe you got 400, 500 views. And then by you know, video 100 you've got thousands of people now engaging and watching what you're doing and what you're saying.
1:39 And that's especially important for companies. I have personally created some significant contracts for companies I've worked for, through my work on LinkedIn. Presenting interesting content that builds up a body of work, presenting articles, posts, videos. It's a combination of all of that and it's a long game.
2:01 If you do LinkedIn correctly, six months of work will lead to one significant connection. It's not about building up hundreds of thousands of followers. It's about finding those exact followers that you want for your company and maybe your personal brand. But it doesn't happen in just one or two things. It's not "Oh, we tried it didn't work."
2:26 No, you have to keep at it.
