A question I get often is 'how did you transition from planning and managing single projects to scaling up to manage hundreds of projects per year?'
Like anything else in the creative field, planning is the most important aspect of any project.
Mapping out all the steps, the people and processes is the same whether you're working on a simple interview project or laying out the groundwork and personnel for hundreds of hours of original programming per year. It's just a larger sandbox with many more steps and processes.
I start with the high, 3000 foot level basics, "We are here, we need to get there."
Then section by section, I build out each part of the overall process. Breaking down a massive undertaking into manageable chunks makes the process much easier.
A week or a month later, we end up with the drawing below developed for OTT/SVOD original production utilizing a global creative team. An efficient process designed to produce dozens of hours of content each month.
Building content to scale is not that much different than creating one piece of content. It's just takes a bit more time, patience and an understanding of people's roles and technology to set your team up for success for the next 5 to 10 years.
