One of the big aspects of branding, especially in social media today is "Authenticity." There's no better way to get authentic with anyone, than with a GoPro Vlogging rig. It's unthreatening and creates awesome opportunities to create and capture content on the fly.
Here's a look at my rig and how it works.

0:00 One of the big aspects of branding, especially in social media today is authenticity. For me, there's no better way to get authenticity, than with something like this little GoPro rig that has a microphone, and I can just get right into a situation. Hi, Molly, how are you? Yeah. So I'm going to show you what my little rig is for getting some good authentic social content.
0:23 Now I've got the GoPro Hero Seven. I've also done the same rig with the Hero Five, but the Hero Seven and I've removed the side door so I have access to the little USB port on the side. Now that goes inside this case, company called Ulanzi. This is their video vlogging case, it has little door on the back so the cameras slips right in. So it's very nice. A camera slips right in. You've got access to the power button on this side. And then you've got access to those USB ports on the side which is very, very important. And then this little door just slides into the back.
1:00 Now the coolest thing about this though is that you do have this cold shoe mount up here on top for the microphone which you'll see in a second. This is the GoPro USB microphone adapter USB audio adapter for the microphone. You have to buy this one. I tried using some knockoffs and they did not work. So if you're going to do this rig, make sure you buy the actual GoPro USB rig and then it slides in here sometimes not so easily.
1:30 Just hum to yourself while I'm doing this. And then so once you slide that into the little holder down below, you just simply I twirl it over and then I just plug it right into the little USB port that's on the side of it. So this is what it looks like when it's all set up. And this is sitting on a standard GoPro tripod mount on the bottom of it. So now it's ready to be mounted on a tripod.
1:53 The Shure VP83 LensHopper microphone, that's my microphone of choice. Slide right onto the top. Like so, screw that in the place. I am not left handed so it's taking me a little bit longer. There we go. So now that's on there. This is the microphone cable just hanging out obviously it has a standard stereo plug on the end of it. That's why it cannot plug straight into the GoPro because the GoPro doesn't have that. I just wrap the cord around the bottom of the mic actually I'm going to go this way so it comes around the back. And then on the side there is a microphone plug right there on that side. So now I've got my little guy all rigged up ready to go with a microphone. So now I've got you know the the various point of views of the GoPro you know linear, wide, super wide so I can make sure that I'm always in the shot because you know if that's pointed at you, you're in the shot.
2:44 And then all of this sits on top of this FugeTek FT568 selfie stick, and it has a little pocket here for like this little Bluetooth thing which so you can operate your phone from here and put the stick out, I actually take it out because it's a nice little thumb grip once you once you take that out. But you've got three extensions on this thing. So you can really get it out there if you want to get some shots, and that's really handy, especially if you're filming like say in a manufacturing facility or do you really just about anywhere, you just want to get up higher, or if you're in a crowd, you want to get the camera up higher, you get up higher, but it's great because you can get it out to a good length to make sure that you're in the shot.
3:29 And then let's see, we just screw this right on top of this, the standard tripod mount right down the top. And then you just kind of angle this thing back towards you a little bit, just to make sure let's see there's the right angle unscrew that a little bit, give myself a little bit of an angle. And so long as this thing is pointed at me, I know I'm in the shot, and I can set it as wide or as close as I want it to be. The microphone is ensuring that I get some good quality sound to go with the video.
3:59 So That's my vlogging kit. Have fun!
